- Hidden in Plain Sight, 2025
- Forged and welded steel, oil paint
- 30 x 12 x 12 in
Born and raised in Virginia, Chandler has hiked and canoed all over the U.S. and Canada, but has always enjoyed exploring his home state the most. His work celebrates several native species, the pickerel frog and orange eastern amberwing on an American white water lily.
Representing the wonder and diversity of nature, and painted in understated earth tones, each subject depicts a different aspect of the ecosystem: “The dragonfly lives in the air, the water lily lives in the water, the cattails live on the land, and the frog goes between them all.”
