This is March 28, 2025, looking west at Lake Mendota from Governor’s Island. It is late in the day. My brother passed early in the morning, and this is my depiction of his journey into the next.
Capturing the light I see on my daily walks is what I am trying to do in these pastel landscapes. I live on the Northside of Madison close to many natural areas. When I see something that catches my eye I record it on my phone. Once in a while one of these photos becomes a jumping-off point for my art. But the photos show so little. My memory or maybe my imagination is a richer source of the imagery you see here.
