“A painting is not a picture of an experience, but is the experience.”
– Mark Rothko
These words by the great artist perfectly express Rita's philosophy of creating art. Her artworks have been described as a surprising explosion of colours and textures that intrigue and draw the viewer into the artist’s exploration of inner worlds.
Her spontaneity of movement on the canvas is evident in each artwork. She uses multiple tools to express the complexity and depth of her emotional landscape. Every stroke of the knife, the brush and other tools, some of which she makes herself, forms a rhythmic balance offering a visceral richness.
She has lived and worked in many different parts of the world over the years, from London to Brussels, from New Delhi to Bali, from Singapore to San Francisco. Her work reflects the diverse and wondrous experiences she has been so fortunate to be immersed in.
Rita accepts private commissions and has created artworks for specific spaces around the world, including the beautiful countryside of England, the stunning south island of New Zealand, and the cultural mecca of Japan. She particularly loves the challenge of capturing the essence of a person or a place while maintaining the integrity of her artistic identity.
