This piece was made on a rainy afternoon in August. I was frustrated in my attempts at carving due to the rain so came into the studio to paint. Once inside I realized this gentle of warm light rain through the layering of Michael Harding oils - transparent Indian Yellow and opaque King's Blue, applied through multiple layers and several tones of grey. The resulting painting wonderfully captures the reflected light and feeling of soft rain falling on my studio skylight, a very English summer experience. This is an oil painting on Belle Arte canvas board.
