A painting in acrylic on canvas, composed of 19 alternate brown and ochre horizontal stripes. Selected brown stripes are interrupted by apparently random short, diagonal white stripes. A twentieth stripe at the bottom of the painting is black. It is an exercise in the language of patterns. The meaning of the painting is not explicit. If viewed as representational, it may be interpreted in numerous ways. It is not intended to be read this way, but I acknowledge that such a reading may be inevitable and conceptually difficult to shake off.
