Wanting to create something big, bright and uplifting, I began sketching La Jolla Shores, our favorite beach for morning walks with our pup Emma. As I explored compositions, the cloud, various angles of Scripps Pier and the ocean, it became more simplified. For some reason the pier begged to extend above the horizon. Perhaps it's a bridge or a diving board.
