One afternoon I went to the Manhattan Café to meet some friends for an afternoon discussion. The building seemed a little foreboding from the outside; after all, there were bars on the windows (not seen in the painting) and it seemed dark inside. But we had a lovely time! Turns out it is a very hipster place, and the bartender was friendly and attentive. I've been there many times since.
In my painting, I have created a low flat-roof building with a dancing red door, teal walls, and purple sky. It looks like a beer hall, because it is! And it is both eclectic AND eccentric!
