High on a hill above the Creuse River in Felletin, France, stands this sign dividing two villages - Les Fayes and La Faye (plural and singular). I couldn't imagine what the story could be that would create two separate communities with such similar names. Was it a marriage between two families? Was it a disagreement between relatives within a single family? Was it a loner who wanted to make it on his own? What a mystery! Either way, the landscape was beautiful, the sky clear blue, and I thoroughly enjoyed sketching the barn and the house that was within my view.
