I'm endlessly curious about the connection between painting intuitively and the emotions that emerge—both my own and those of viewers. When I start a painting, I never know what it will become. I let myself go, making instinctive decisions about color, shape, texture, and how layers build up to create something that expresses what I'm feeling or thinking. There's no safety net in abstract work—no recognizable subject to fall back on. It's just pure expression, and that makes it the most challenging art I've ever pursued. The paintings that result have this ability to connect with people in ways I can't predict or control. This kind of painting continues to push me harder than anything else I've done, and I know it will keep challenging me for years to come.
