Collection: Rangoli Graffiti
"Rangoli Graffiti" is a collection of 8 watercolor artworks that I created, inspired by the intricate beauty of rangoli, a traditional Indian folk art. Rangoli, known as "an art of decoration," is typically drawn on the floor at the entrance of homes to bring luck, prosperity, and welcome guests.
These designs range from simple shapes to elaborate symbols such as peacocks, flowers, and paisleys, unified by their vibrant colors. Each state in India has its unique style and name for rangoli, often seen adorning street pavements during festivals, much like how graffiti brightens urban public spaces.
My artworks aim to capture the vivid, colorful essence of rangoli and blend it with the contemporary energy of graffiti, creating a unique fusion that celebrates cultural tradition and modern creativity. Each artwork, measuring 9 inches by 12 inches. is painted with watercolor on hot press paper and embellished with white and gold gel pen to highlight the rangoli-inspired designs.
