This painting was created "en plein air" or on site. I had been invited to visit a private residence of an elderly gentleman who had an amazing collection of antiques. These poppies were growing up between old cars, wagons and all types of ancient agricultural equipment. The poppies growing beside an old rickety fence caught my eye. I was inspired by the bold colour of the orange/red poppies against the old weather worn boards.
