Between the Edges

A bit like a mosaic, a bit like stained glass.... but all in acrylic paint. Landscapes are broken down into intricate pieces, surrounded by hard edges, and together represent the flow and patterns found in the natural landscape. The edges allow for strong contrasts adding visual interest and appeal; but as the collection name suggests, the most interesting element of these pieces rests "between the edges" - spaces filled with vibrant colors, textures, and in many pieces: DOTS!. This collection features a wide array of textural explorations: from the smooth, but richly pigmented acrylic marker segments, to mixed media elements adding depth and feel to mountain ridges, rock formations, trees, skyscapes, and water.

Beyond Series

Pointillism pieces focusing on luminous landscapes often with the emphasis on what’s behind what might be the normal focal point of the landscape. For example, the sunset behind the tree or a reflection of a sunrise in a lake. Pieces are created by hand usually over multiple weeks or months using a few tools to create the individual dots.

Memories

Watercolors made from photos of travels and adventures past. I wasn’t able to paint it then, but thoroughly enjoyed diving back in the memory for a while to bring it to life on paper.
