My mixed media pieces are created by combining magazine cutouts, cardboard, and acrylic paint. I alternate the paint application to either show or cover the magazine's original surface, depending on the look I am pursuing. The cardboard base for my pieces often has elements that extrude outward to give the piece a sculptural quality. I incorporate miscellaneous materials into my artwork, things like aluminum foil, masking tape, or even string, which give the pieces extra character.
