Artist: Sam Yates Meier
Sam Meier teaches in the Visual Communications Department at the University of Kansas (KU), where she previously served as program director. She works as a senior designer with Hallmark’s Global Trends and Innovation Studio in Kansas City, Missouri, and is pursuing an MA in African-American Studies at KU with a focus on Black art and design. Meier’s professional background spans in-house media for Kansas City PBS, experiential design and wayfinding with Dimensional Innovations, and brand experience and identity development with the Washington, D.C.–based firm Beveridge Seay. Her work has been recognized with an American In-House Design Award, an American Graphic Design Award from GDUSA, and an American Illustration 42 award. She is President Emeritus of AIGA Kansas City and remains active in the design community. In her free time, Meier practices yoga and collaborates with local community groups.
