My love of letterpress is another extension of my lifelong, obsessive curiosity about reading, typography, and etymology. Recently, my visual work has been focused on using abstracted Roman alphabets in compositions to re-introduce myself to their form separate from their meaning. Using large wood type on a showcard press or any manual press, along with stencils and cropping, makes the creation of these new monotypes such an immersive, iterative process.
