This 5-piece wood and bronze installation, designed for story times and musical performances, blends abstractions of plants and animals into seating of various sizes and heights. Look carefully to pick out 15 shapes of animals, all representative of the earthen effigy mounds left by prehistoric people along the Mississippi River in Iowa before 1300 A.D.

The artist spent a decade exploring how the manipulation of physical space changes our psychology: She calls this the Psychology of Space. Once a visitor enters the "Reading Garden" space, everything seen, felt or heard becomes art.

“Reading Garden” was the winning design of a 1997 competition sponsored by the Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees and the City of Omaha Public Art Commission.
