Shadow Box
- Steel
- Tom Sitzman
"Shadow Box" is designed to look different from every angle. The shadows from the cutouts add dimension to the space without filling it, and are as important as the sculpture itself. The artist hopes that people will play with the space, shapes and shadows and be interactive with the art by looking through it, touching it and going inside it.
"Shadow Box" was installed in the Gene Leahy Mall in 2005 as part of the Wind & Water Sculpture Project (2002-05) created in conjunction with the Omaha Summer Arts Festival. It was moved from that location when renovations to the mall began in 2019, and placed in its current location near the playground at Flanagan Lake.
