This work was purchased and donated to city by the Metropolitan Arts Council, Art in Public Places Committee. The title "Mangonel" refers to a medieval catapult.

The sculpture was originally installed in the Gene Leahy Mall in downtown Omaha, but was moved to its current location during the 2022 Mall revitalization project.
