Frankie's Pain
- Steel, brick & plexiglass
- Tim Zweiback
"Frankie's Pain" was created using the discarded material from the old viaduct linking downtown to Union Station, transforming it into something far different than its original intent. Is it simultaneously an encased cocoon protecting beauty and allowing it to emerge and an entombed sarcophagus holding a life long departed. The sculpture was installed in the Gene Leahy Mall in 2004 as part of the "Wind & Water" Sculpture Project (2002-05) created in conjunction with the Omaha Summer Arts Festival, and purchased by RDG Architects for donation to the city for permanent display. It was moved from that location when renovations to the mall began in 2019, and placed in storage.
