Transcend

This work is part of my Sewn Open Series. Part of my process is inspired by the Japanese philosophy and ceramics technique, kintsugi in which broken pottery is repaired with gold, breathing new life into an object. Kintsugi embraces an objects history and suggests that imperfection is beautiful—breakage is highlighted not hidden. Like kintsugi, “Transcend” conveys acceptance, adaptability and non-attachment.
