Peter Schaumann is a Pennsylvania native currently residing in Newtown Square. A graduate of the University of the Arts, Schaumann has served on the faculty of the University of the Arts and Moore College of Art and Design. He is currently teaching private classes on the classical approach to painting. Schaumann enjoyed a successful career as a New York illustrator, winning numerous honors and awards. His work has been cited by the New York Society of Illustrators, Graphis Magazine, and the New York Art Directors Club.
He is presently a full time portrait painter and fine artist. A Member of the Portrait Society of America, he was the recipient of the “Select Fifty” International Portrait Competition, Portrait Society of America, Atlanta, Georgia 2017, First Award of Merit at the 1993 National Portrait Seminar and a finalist for the 2000 International Portrait Arts Festival in New York City. Schaumann’s latest solo exhibition of recent paintings was at the Benjamin Mangel Gallery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Spring 2005.
His work has appeared in books and national publications as well as group and solo exhibitions across the United States. His work is included in many private, corporate, and institutional collections.
A former Santa Fe resident and artist, Schaumann enjoys western trips of hiking and mountain biking with his wife Clare and son William.
