As part of my capstone show, The Pinnacle explores concepts of conformity, mastery, tradition and trickery by combining traditional, handmade glass feet and stems with cheap, disposable plastic cutlery, plates and cups. Five places are set upon a massive, 6’ x 4’ x 32” handbuilt pedestal surrounded by smaller, empty pedestals in place of chairs. Directional lighting positions the flanking places to point towards the head of the table which basks in the light. This piece began as a conversation of an art piece’s worth in a gallery space and ended as a revelation at the lengths one may go to be accepted in an artistic sphere.
