Lake Weering is a hypersaline body of water about 20 kilometres north of Colac in central Victoria, Australia. Its coloured algal growths, which thrive in the salinity and summer heat, are usually hues of pink. However, they can also appear in many other colours, depending on the depth of the water and the time of day – where the sun’s angle reflects from the bed of the lake.
