Peter Harlow was born in England and educated to first degree level at London University. After a career including aerial photography, marketing and personal development training & coaching, he emigrated to Australia in 2001. Here, he established a business marketing and supporting specialist light aircraft for landowners, flying schools and individuals. In 2022, after almost 20 years involvement, he handed over this enterprise to a new owner and took up commercial drone flying. This combined his lifelong loves of flying and photography to enable him to capture images impossible from a piloted aircraft. He has won a number of awards for his pictures and taken part in both shared and solo exhibitions of his work. He now lives on the bayside, south of Melbourne, and is an active member of the Bayside Artists Collective.

Statement

Peter Harlow is an abstract aerial landscape photographer, beginning his practice in late 2021. From a viewpoint of less than fifty metres above the surface, nature paints its own abstract images, unique and perfect. These images are constantly changing with the wind, rain and seasons. In this sense, his photographs represent impermanence and fragility. By presenting a different view of the landscape, his intention is to cause you to pause, consider and reflect on the changing and transformative beauty of nature.

“I love the patterns and textures made on the terrain by the elements – occasionally modified by human hand. Views from the sky often reveal otherwise unseen colours and shapes and you enter a new world of dreamlike images.”
