PEDRO CUFRÉ was born in Córdoba, Argentina in 1981.
He studied architecture at the Universidad Católica de Córdoba (UCC) in Argentina, and besides the bachelor’s degree in architecture he received the University Award for his academic achievements. Continuing his studies, in 2012 he got a master’s degree in Innovative process design (UCC).
Between 2012 and 2015 he moved to Ferrara (Italy), where he developed a doctoral thesis in the field of the Cultural Heritage, and he got a PHD in Science and Technology for the archeology and cultural heritage.
In 2016 he got a fellowship from the “Fondo Nacional de las Arte” with a grant for creation in the Heritage Area.
He was Director of the Marina Waisman Heritage Institute (UCC), Director of the master’s degree in Innovative Process Design (UCC), Researcher and Teacher (UCC-UNC). In 2022 he moved to the United States where he currently resides in Orange County, California, devoting himself entirely to artistic activity.

Statement
He is a multifaceted artist who explores different expressions through diverse techniques like painting,
photography, crafts, ceramics, and embroidery. His works have centered around three main aspects that cut
through his personal and professional life. He has explored abstract geometry by building abstract
topographies where geometry and color are the leading actors, which evidences the abstract representation
of reality as a universal language and represents his education in architecture. Through his works, he
questions the collective cultural memory, its fragility, the absences, the permanences, and the new meanings
of architectural heritage as a synthesis of that memory. Finally, in his current works, he explores his personal
history evoking memories of his childhood, his education at a catholic school, and the effects of bullying,
sexual orientation, gender, masculine body, and queer culture, borrowing classic catholic icons to resignify
them with new personal and universal meanings.
