My work is based on urban and rural landscapes in and surrounding Sydney where I live. I see the landscape as both historical and everchanging, in its natural forms and physical structures. I try to use these elements, colours and shapes to build paintings.
I was born in Sydney in 1948, and have lived in NSW for most of my life, except for a period in the UK and Mexico in the 70’s. I lived in Gladesville in Sydney for 20 years, recently moving to Balmain East.
I studied Architecture at UNSW and Univ. of Newcastle and have drawn and painted from early years. During my working career I worked in architectural practices and other building areas gradually focusing on painting. I did exhibit in the 1970s in group shows and in the 1980’s did illustrations and cartoon/ graphics for publications and films.
The media I use include oil paint, watercolour, gouache, drawing & photography.
I currently work at my studio in Drummoyne.
