I grew up in New York City, and enjoyed the great art museums there. I came to Toledo in 1975 to join the faculty of the Medical College of Ohio, retiring in 2012. Over the years I have attended more than 20 workshops on painting in watercolor and pastel. Currently, I paint for myself, and teach painting at the Toledo Museum of Art, The Toledo Artists' Club, and other venues in Northwest Ohio. I am represented in the Collector’s Corner at the Toledo Museum of Art, 20 North Gallery, and the Gutman Gallery in Ann Arbor.
Statement
I paint for the pleasure of putting color on paper, and to create paintings that fuse realistic images and strong abstract designs. I seek to create a design that shows why I chose the subject, the light in the scene and the color. I favor bright color and bold designs. I work in watercolor, pastels, acrylic and charcoal, using the unique qualities of each medium to suit my passion for paint Over the years, I have attended over 20 workshops on watercolor, acrylic and pastel painting, with Fred Graff, Viana Szabo, Frank Webb, and Ed Whitney.
My artwork is supported by a grant from the Toledo Lucas County Rescue Plan Grant for Individual Artists.
