The drawings presented here all belong to a family group of works on paper called the Cusa Drawings. They are titled after Nicholas of Cusa, a German thinker of the late Middle Ages. Over the years Fitzgerald has read Cusa's writings, and through this influence has been in interested in the idea of an intentional process of going as far back to 'zero' as possible, a kind of negative theology of sorts, in order to arrive at an unknown outcome in each piece.
