I painted this while visiting my mother and watching a storm outside her dining room window. There were birds, storm clouds and a strange orange sky. And the hint of a not quite formed funnel that I enhanced. Also, I decided to paint flora rather than the homes of the neighborhood that actually are there.
I've always loved clouds. Fine weather clouds, storm clouds, I love watching them. I'm not so thrilled by the kind of "cloud" that covers the whole sky and yet has absolutely no features at all. And, have you noticed how birds do start flying about when there is an oncoming storm? They seem to have bolt holes somewhere else! Or are they not so confident in our local trees?! If I was one of those birds, I'd be fleeing too.
