Patricia Kelley is a fine artist working in watercolor. With her imaginative “Modern Perspective” series she hopes to show the beauty of life, our planet, and the need to cherish it, by using a positive message. For this series she creates engaging landscapes that draw you in to take a closer look and to examine socially important issues.
Growing up on Long Island, NY, she was inspired by the beautiful sandy beaches and exciting New York city. She has recently moved to another beautiful island in Washington State with her two lovely daughters.

Statement
My watercolor painting style includes captivating landscapes, dreamy florals and unique animals that are colorful and surprising.
A realistic type of painting has always been easier for me than whimsical. So I challenged myself to blend the two styles together. I really enjoy using vibrant colors in an unexpected way and painting with lots of layers. My work also contains fine details that invite you to take a closer look.
Being Certified in Interior Design gave me a technical foundation in drafting and perspective drawing. I’ve always loved architecture, and have incorporated that into many paintings. I also enjoy creating winding garden landscapes, as well as whimsical florals and animals.
After painting for a few years, I began to question whether my art was bringing something meaningful into the world. In 2014, the world was in turmoil, with escalating unrest and violence, I felt compelled to have a voice, to try to bring something positive into the world. So I started a series of paintings called “Modern Perspective”. The first painting in the series is about humans respecting each other and coexisting. I use the sidewalk in a town to guide you through the painting with people, symbols and words.
I am currently working on the third painting in the “Modern Perspective” series, which is about the care and protection of domestic animals. It shows farm and residential animals. As I continuing with this series, each painting will focus on socially important issues. I hope that communicating a positive message through heartfelt words and visually engaging paintings will reach others on an emotional level.
