I enjoy painting in gouache, which is an opaque, rather than transparent, watercolor medium. In that respect it is a lot like painting in oils, but its velvety matte surface has an appeal that oils can't duplicate.
Since naming this painting I've learned that the "inlet" is really a fresh water creek that empties into the Sound at Sunken Meadow State park on Long Island.
