In South Africa, at the Garden Route game reserve, I had the opportunity to quietly observe these two elephants (mother and daughter) off in the distance. Hastily setting up my easel in hopes they didn’t wander away. I can still hear the sound of wind coming off of the hill and bird calls I didn’t recognize. Can you hear them catching up on their day - sharing a story. Enjoying a peaceful, friendly moment between them. Oil on board. Plein aire. One of few that I didn’t feel the need to edit in my studio.
