Pedernal Sky ~ OKeefe’s Mountain, Encaustic painting, from sketches created during a visit to Ghost Ranch, New Mexico. The clouds obscured all but the peak of the mountain that she called her own.
Inspired by the vast, luminous skies of New Mexico, Pedernal Sky captures the spirit of wide-open landscapes and the endless horizons that surround Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, home to Georgia Okeefe. The top of Pedernal mountain peeked out from the clouds descending down the valley. It anchored the earth—into a richly textured expanse of vivid blue. Evoking the sense of quiet awe and timelessness. Pedernal Sky brings a breath of the Southwest any space.
