“If I Close My Eyes, Is It Over Yet” is an encaustic painting - a version of my Storm series. As we went up and down the mountains of Iceland, the altitude rises and falls dramatically and quickly. I was driving. I never closed my eyes but there were definitely moments when I wanted to. ;) It’s breathtaking, so you don’t because, well it’s safer that way and mostly because I just didn’t want to miss a thing. 12x12, framed.
Iceland is a sort of magical place. Unlike any other I’ve visited. The changes in elevation are dramatic. Sometimes the roads are gravel and mud - well most of the time once you leave the ring road. I was the driver. There were moments when I couldn’t believe the road up or especially the road down into the valley we wanted to see. This encaustic painting is both about water and ice and the ever present wind. I loved it. Even if my companions might not have thought so.
