I developed two fragrances for the show “The Garden of Unearthly Delights: Hieronymous Bosch in the 21st Century” which was curated by Jerry Cullum and presented at Whitespace Gallery in Atlanta. The show was based on Bosch’s triptych The Garden of Earthly Delights.
I worked in collaboration with Lisa Tuttle, who made the visual materials that accompanied my fragrances. One, Les Fleurs de Bosch, was based on the Spring panel, and featured Spring flowers appearing in the painting, Atlas cedar, orange and sandalwood, along with a modern replica of ambergris. The other, L’ Huile de Bosch, represented the Hell panel. It featured resins like frankincense, labdanum, Cade oil, a modern replica of deer musk, black pepper and rose.
The fragrances, which were designed for use as skin perfumes, incense base or bath products, were displayed against a backdrop by Patty Nelson Merrifield.
