In early spring, I go to a North Georgia garden to photograph ferns as they are just emerging. Often, they resemble figures. Finding the narrative here was easy. Regarding technique, this is a black and white archival photo hand-colored with pan pastel, a finely ground pigment that adheres to the paper, and ink. There are also touches of artists colored pencil. The pigments are fixed with acrylic spray.
This is the first in a planned series.
