Artist Statement

This 12 × 12 acrylic painting emerged slowly through many months of revision and return. Built with texturedpaste and layered acrylic, the surface holds the history of what came before it—marks pressed, scraped, and reworked until the piece found its own voice.

Contrasting warm and cool tones create an active visual rhythm, keeping the surface in constant motion. The interplay of color and texture reflects a period of emotional energy and uncertainty, where clarity was not immediate but gradually revealed through persistence.

Undercurrent speaks to what moves beneath the surface—forces unseen yet deeply felt. Rather than resolving into stillness, the painting embraces tension and momentum, offering a record of becoming shaped by time, friction, and layered experience.
