Rochester, NY
Parker Dubiel is a multidisciplinary artist focusing on metalwork and sculpture, working with ideas about bodily autonomy and interpersonal connection.
MessageRochester based multidisciplinary artist Parker Dubiel was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Trained in painting since childhood, he now attends Rochester Institute of Technology, class of 2025, for a bachelors in studio arts with a focus on sculpture. At RIT, he was naturally drawn to metalwork, and pushes the boundaries of what can be done with metals, and plays with abstraction as an art form.
Statement
Through sculpture, I manipulate materials and objects to tell stories. Form and texture are what I find most interesting in work, and I believe those things can create an impression on and emotion in the viewer whether that aligns with my intent or not. I use the figure to produce empathy and as a narrative element. I'm especially concerned with the human body - how it works and behaves, the way we inhabit one, the ways to use it, and the vastness of human experience through the physical form. In my work, I explore themes of the self, the human condition, and the natural world.
