Statement
I have a masters degree in education and my preliminary career was in public education. I was the director of the University of North Florida Child Development Research Center and taught college level early childhood classes as an adjunct professor at the University of North Florida and Florida College of Jacksonville. I used my desire to be creative by challenging myself to come up with creative lessons, environments, and activities that the learners would enjoy while receiving the necessary information from the classes. But I continued to feel unrest in my heart. I needed to return to painting. There was a fire that would not go out. In 2016 I chose to be a full time artist.
My artistic area of expertise is landscape painting catching the essence of vastly different environments. I have just completed a study in Croatia, with professor Louis Brown. My Plein air paintings were inspired by the beautiful colors and culture of the area. I traveled to Alaska and was inspired to paint the dark nights with the Aurora Borealis.
The mediums of my choice are acrylic painting and collage. At times I use encaustic medium over my acrylic paints. This gives a unique feel and look to the paintings. My paintings have been exhibited regionally at the St. Augustine Art Association, Cummer Art Museum, Lightner museum and the Jacksonville Artist Guild.
