Artisan Jewelry and Portraiture
In 1971 I earned a degree in art education that gave me near classical training in many forms of visual expression including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry making.
Choosing a free lance path I settled into full time portraiture drawing portraits at fairs around the USA and on the French Riviera. For decades commissioned portraits were a source of income.
To escape realism I began working in sterling silver in the 1990’s. By 2006 I was a full time one of a kind jewelry maker. I incorporated ancient Celtic and Norse silver working techniques and methods. Grinding my steel punches in many sizes and shapes enabled me to strike my designs into silver as they did centuries ago.
Story telling designs emerged in many pieces including Biblical themes, landscapes, animals, and women’s faces. I sold my jewelry at juried art shows across the country for twelve years doing an average of 25 shows a year during which I received many awards for originality and craftsmanship.
