  • Artist: Chasity Erbaugh (American, b. 1979)

Chasity Erbaugh is an artist known for her vibrant use of color and imaginative creativity. Born in Jackson, Tennessee, she grew up throughout Texas and Alabama as the oldest of eight siblings. Her early life was shaped by participation in sports, church activities, and managing personal challenges within her family. Her interest in art began in third grade when a teacher noticed her drawing of a calico cat and saved it, igniting a lifelong passion.

Erbaugh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and took several art classes in junior college. Despite her formal education, she developed most of her artistic skills through self-teaching, embracing experimentation and learning from mistakes. She began by sketching her children, which led to receiving commissions and spending a decade painting window murals across east Texas. Her body of work includes bright floral paintings and playful “fauxbots,” steampunk-inspired sculptures made from found metal.

She has sold her work in Fredericksburg and Johnson City and regularly participates in markets and festivals throughout east Texas. Her influences include Gustav Klimt and Lauren Lewchuk, and her pieces combine bold colors with intricate patterns. Erbaugh is a member of the Palette of Roses Art League and frequently exhibits her work locally.

Beyond art, she has a strong interest in western medieval history and gardening. She views art as a way to inspire joy, curiosity, and connection, hoping her creations evoke wonder in those who experience them.
