Expansion Chamber
- Acrylic On Canvas
- Enid Williams
This acrylic painting is based on an abstract, organic design using primed birch panel as a substrate. The use of a rigid support allows for extensive layering as a means to develop a richly varied and nuanced color palette. The panel also lends itself to the additive and subtractive processes inherent in my imagery.
The artist used two considerations to direct the concept: the physical qualities she encountered when visiting the building site in July 2015 and the architectural renderings of the interior and exterior of the library building. She found particular interest in the visual relationship of more densely foliated areas transitioning into spatial openness combined with quality of light and reflection typical to the region.
