Apollo’s Cascade
Apollo’s Cascade is within the Keenan Fountain on Boyd Plaza outside the Columbia Museum of Art.
Created by artist Rodney Carroll, an artist that resides in Baltimore
It’s reported that much of Carroll’s work is inspired by “energy” which he identified about his own work by watching a hurricane hit the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
The larger elements in his sculptures, often resembling wavelike curls, are his “flexible landscapes.” He also incorporates more slender rods or beams, and sees them as energetic forces cutting through his forms – like a storm pushing around sand on a beach. “The direction of the energy will change the way these sculptures turn and twist and interact.” – Carroll
Carroll has over 80 public artworks since he began in 1983
