The sculpture represents the 20th anniversary of Keep the Midlands Beautiful.

From the artist: “It was done with the help of Fred Seidenberg at Mid-Carolina Recycling, and an organization he was working with [Keep the Midlands Beautiful]. All the material for the work was from the recycling yard. That was to be the point. Recycling can create potential beyond the material itself. JUST PLANT YOURSELF AND YOU WILL GROW. My bird perched at the top filled with glass that I do with Tommy at One Eared Cow. The bird is a symbol of Peace in all my work. Whatever shape life takes – Peace reigns. In the woods the first thing to move when disturbed are the birds. They will only remain where Peace is. This PLANT can get moved about by time and wind but Peace remains and always remains.”
