Alley Way
This mural was funded by the City of West Columbia through an art proposal contest. After a process of reviewing work, selected artist, Christine Lutfy, a native and local artist was chosen. This mural is located in the alleyway connecting State St. and the Interactive Art Park in West Columbia. It represents a broad range of activities and adventures you can do in West Columbia. The Gervais St. Bridge is depicted with a whimsical river, a trail with a variety of foliage and flowers, bikes & the Columbia bike rack, inner tubes & kayaks for floating down the river, the Riverbanks Zoo representing two popular animals, the giraffe and gorilla, a map showing the rivers meeting, and a large sun meaning that everyday is a new day, shedding light on the art community. Later, plants and foliage were added around the mural to give it more of an environmentally friendly and clean look, which added a lot to the area.
