The Pomegranades series is an artistic series inspired by the double meaning of the word "pomegranate" in Ukrainian and in French– the fruit symbolizing prosperity, life force, and rebirth, and a weapon of war. This series invites us to choose the fruit over the bomb.
Divided into two parts, it features the colors of the Ukrainian flag: blue and yellow. The blue part, begun in 2020, presents works in a realistic style, but with an unconventional composition for still lifes. The yellow part, initiated in 2023, reinterprets the theme.
The yellow series incorporates cultural symbols, such as floral and geometric motifs inspired by traditional Ukrainian art: embroidery, ceramic decoration, and Easter egg decoration. The keys represent the quest for peace in the face of the tragedies caused by war.
Despite its dark undertones, "The Pomegrarenades" is imbued with positivity and faith in victory.
