Olena KVIT
Carcassonne
A PhD researcher exploring the architecture of light. My work is a synergy of vibrant Ukrainian cultural roots & the luminous intensity of the South of France.
MessageOlena Kvit (PhD) is a Ukrainian research-based artist living and working in the South of France. Her practice is situated at the intersection of deep analytical methodology and expressive painting. Her practice is defined by a unique synergy: the bold, saturated color palette of her Ukrainian heritage meeting the transformative light of the South of France. Using her background in systematic analysis, Olena deconstructs landscapes into rhythmic forms and chromatic energy, creating intellectual spaces that celebrate the vibrancy of life. Her work has been recognized by institutions such as the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Carcassonne, marking her high institutional standing.

Statement
My artistic practice is a dialogue between analytical structure and the visceral energy of color. As a researcher with a PhD background, I approach the canvas as a space for the systematic deconstruction of light and form.
My visual language is deeply rooted in the vibrant aesthetic of Ukrainian folk art, which instilled in me an innate courage to use saturated, symbolic colors. This heritage found a new dimension under the unique atmospheric light of the South of France. In my work, I explore how the intense Mediterranean sun transforms objects into pure chromatic energy. By blending the rhythmic patterns of my cultural roots with the luminosity of Occitania, I create intellectual landscapes that invite the viewer to experience color not just as an optical phenomenon, but as a structured emotional force.
