- Cast glass planes suspended in wood
''The Screen of Afflatus'' is made of two screens that are designed to inspire students and faculty alike in the creative process not only of art but also of learning, feeling and observing. The glass and wood screens with bold lines and bold colors are a combination of vibrant developing forms that replicate sunlight, earth, water and all fundamental forces that have created and continue to create life as we know it on earth in all its manifestations. The pieces will exhibit a powerful interplay of color and form that integrate the four stated disciplines through the use of symbols, words, objects and materials that will give life to the space. Symbolic glass tile pieces attached to the columns reflect the evolving attachment of man to science, knowledge, research and the preservation of our accumulated humanity. The overall concept is to create an impression of intense color, shapes, light and materials that draws the eye and the imagination to these objects. Just as a library is a place of study and reflection this work is comparable to a beautiful book that is inviting by its title and name of the author but holds the magical secrets deeper within its pages.
