These are part of a series of stereoscopic viewing devices that pair differing, contrasting, and altered photos and 2-D art. The act of pairing two differing images using a stereoscope merges the images in the viewer's mind. A fleeting, blinking, 3-D collage effect results in a third picture, but this new piece only exists in the brain of the person using the stereoscope.
In addition to using the science of vision and the way the human brain continually interprets and combines what we see, to create an images that are not present in reality, I want to use this project to look at the way people view themselves as belonging in a social/professional space or not (as in imposter syndrome). Some other issues I want to discuss are the way two contrasting things (lifestyles, places, loves) compete for attention and space in our minds, and the way the constant bombardment of thoughts, ideas, and feelings affects the ADHD mind.
