ARTIST STATEMENT
My works pay homage to the rich tapestry of Ghanaian Akan culture and heritage, which i preserve the indigenous knowledge system through figurative sculptures. By visually archiving Akan folktales and oral history, my work encapsulates my culture, and values, aiming to revive and appreciate the rich cultural heritage of the Akan people of Ghana Africa, and the importance of preserving and passing down traditional knowledge to future generations and rest of the world.
As an artist, I believe that art has the power to educate, inspire, and connect people to their roots. By exploring and interpreting the traditional stories and values of the Akan culture through my sculptures, I hope to spark conversations and promote dialogue about the importance of cultural preservation in a rapidly changing world. Through my art, I strive to keep the spirit of the Akan people alive, honoring their history and traditions while also exploring the intersection of tradition and modernity. My sculptures act as a bridge between past and present, inviting viewers to reflect on their cultural heritage and the importance of preserving Indigenous knowledge systems in a globalized world.
